Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen has written to Opposition Leader Sussan Ley, offering private briefings from his department and energy agencies, in attempt to sway the Coalition to support a net zero by 2050 target.
The letter, obtained exclusively by Sky News, comes ahead of crunch talks set for Friday morning where Liberal and National MPs will thrash out their views on climate and energy policy.
Writing to Ms Ley on Monday afternoon, Mr Bowen says he would be “happy to assist” the Coalition in determining its policy position.
“I note media reporting that this week the Coalition will be hosting more discussions and more presentations by ‘experts’ with respect to energy and climate policy,” he writes.
