The St. Clair Historical Museum will host a November program on the history of the local plastics industry.
The event, titled "From Standard Products to Blue Water Plastics and Beyond," will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 and 1 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Community Room of the St. Clair Historical Museum/Community Center, 308 S. Fourth St. in St. Clair, according to a community announcement.
The program will explore the development of the plastics industry in the St. Clair area, focusing on key figures and companies that contributed to its growth. Dr. James Reid will discuss how Standard Products transitioned from making plastic gas caps to producing wartime gas mask parts and automobile assemblies during the 1930s, '40s and '50s.
