In September, the city and two residents filed the lawsuit, claiming the shelter perpetuates segregation and discrimination, and violates several laws.

Dozens gathered in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Poughkeepsie for what organizers dubbed a town hall meeting Oct. 23 to inform and update city residents on the status of the federal civil rights lawsuit regarding the planned Oakley Street shelter.
