The family of a woman who died after being illegally sold a weight-loss drug on the black market are calling for stricter regulations on unlicensed "skinny jabs". Karen McGonigal, a 53-year-old mum of three from Salford, passed away in May, just days after she was given a dose of semaglutide.

NHS England has issued warnings that the drug, also known as Wegovy, should only be taken if prescribed by a specialist weight management service. It is not recommended for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have certain health conditions.
