October is considered a month of transition, with shorter days and changing weather. It's been one of transition for Oklahoma, as well. After a tumultuous Ryan Walters era, Lindel Fields was chosen by Gov. Kevin Stitt to take over as state schools superintendent . Fields will be tasked with turning around an education system that consistently ranks among the worst performing nationwide. Stitt also announced a seven-person "turnaround team" of veteran education leaders to assist Fields in that effort.
