KUALA LUMPUR — Prime Minister Mark Carney plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping while the pair are at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum later this week in South Korea.
Carney said the pair will discuss “a broad range of issues, both in terms of the commercial relationship as well as the evolution of the global system.”
The planned meeting comes on the heels of Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand’s visit to Beijing, where she met with her counterpart, Wang Yi.
“We’re in the process of a resetting of expectations of where the relationship can go,” Carney told reporters at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
