ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCBD) – State law enforcement agents are looking to speak with a person of interest connected to two South Carolina State University shootings that happened at the beginning of October.

The person pictured was on campus when the shootings took place, officials said Monday.

The seemingly unrelated shootings led to the death of Jaliyah Butler, 19, and saw the campus placed on lockdown for multiple days. Another male was critically injured by gunfire during a shooting near Poplar Hall.

One of the shootings happened near the Hugine Suites student residential complex during the university’s annual homecoming celebration on Saturday, shortly after an SCSU football game.

A third guest on campus was injured while running from the scene of the first shooting.
