BOSTON (WWLP) - Senator Edward Markey (D-Mass.) successfully passed four amendments to the Foreign Robocall Elimination Act during a Commerce Committee markup, aiming to combat unlawful robocalls and robotexts.
In a news release sent to 22News from Senator Edward Markey's Office, the amendments, which were advanced with bipartisan support, are designed to enhance efforts to trace and stop illegal robocalls, hold scammers accountable, and protect consumers from fraudulent communications.
"Robocalls and robotexts continue to rob Americans of their time, privacy, and tens of billions of dollars every year," said Senator Markey. "I’m proud that the Commerce Committee advanced my amendments to strengthen tracebacks, hold bad actors accountable, and protect consumers."
