PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — In less than two weeks, a statewide election will determine whether Democrats or Republicans serve in two seats in the five-member Georgia Public Service Commission.

In Peachtree City, U.S. Rep. Brian Jack led a couple of dozen Republicans in support of Fitz Johnson, a Republican trying to keep his seat on the PSC.

It is a hard-fought race that has stayed off the radar of many voters.

"We would tell them we were there to talk to them about the election, and they would say, 'What election?'" recalled Fayette County Republican chair Suzanne Brown, who canvassed the county for the PSC race and municipal elections for weeks.

It's an election that will gauge the temperature of Georgia voters ahead of another big election next year, when voters will choose a U.S. senato
