AUBURN, Ala. —
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze praised his team’s resiliency after a road victory and said the Tigers will hold an open quarterback competition heading into Saturday night’s game against Kentucky.
“There’s no greater motivator than competition,” Freeze said. “It’s an open competition to see who prepares and plays the best.”
Freeze noted that quarterbacks Jackson Arnold and Ashton Daniels will split practice reps before a decision is made. He added that Ashton showed “an incredible amount of poise,” grading him with only two minuses. Freeze also said Jackson has executed Auburn’s recent opening scripts at “an extremely high level,” even if the offense has cooled later in games.
