India named Shafali Verma as a replacement for Pratika Rawal ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 semifinal against Australia.

The decision came after Pratika sustained a right ankle injury during a rain-hit match against Bangladesh at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed Shafali’s inclusion through an official release. Once doctors deemed Pratika’s injury serious on Monday morning, selectors had to choose between standby Tejal Hasabnis and Shafali. The newly appointed selection panel, led by Amita Sharma, opted for Shafali after consulting with the team management.
