MEDINA, Ohio – Officials from the Medina Police Department are seeking state dollars to help fund the department’s body worn camera program.

The city’s finance committee approved a measure Oct. 27 which authorizes the police department to apply for a grant from the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services. The grant is for $23,180 and there is no required match on the city’s part.

“This is specifically for the body worn camera program and to fund two years of the CaseGuard redaction software,” said Lt. Bryan Wagner. “CaseGuard allows us to take camera footage from the officers, redact it and share it with the public.”

Also during the meeting, the finance committee approved a temporary easement for Medina County Sanitary Engineers.
