WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Donald Trump announced trade deal frameworks with four Southeast Asian countries over the weekend as part of a five-day trip to Asia.
Trump started his trip in Malaysia for the ASEAN meeting. He received a royal welcome Monday from Japanese Emperor Naruhito during his visit to Tokyo. The visit came one day after the president announced trade agreements or frameworks with Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Trump already secured a $550 billion investment pledge from Japan. Trump said on Air Force One he was looking forward to meeting Japan’s new Prime Minister.
“But she was a very, very close ally and friend of the Prime Minister Abe. I mean, you know, he was one of my favorites. He was a great man,” Trump said.
