The Supreme Court on Tuesday heard a case regarding extending the benefits of the government insurance scheme to private doctors and healthcare workers who lost their lives during Covid-19. The Court said that if the judiciary does not take care of doctors and stand with them, society will never forgive us.

A bench of Justices PS Narasimha and R Mahadevan said that the government should ensure that insurance companies pay valid claims. They said it is wrong to assume that private doctors work only for profit. The Court has reserved its judgment.
