As Portland anticipated a 5 p.m. Tuesday deadline for the 9th Circuit Court’s judges to decide whether to reconsider federal deployment of Oregon National Guard troops to the city, a festive mood returned Monday outside the city’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building that has been at the center of protests since June.
On Monday, more than 50 people enjoyed a calm and lighthearted atmosphere outside the ICE building in South Portland. “Craftivists” were back at their yarn table to teach people how to crochet, and a Latin Dance Protest offered free dance lessons.
