One person is dead following a two-alarm fire late Monday at a multi-family home in Hartford that displaced nine people.
Firefighters responded to the 2 ½ story home on Elliott Street at 10:35 p.m. and encountered heavy fire conditions on the first floor when they got to the scene, according to the Hartford Fire Department .
The flames had already extended to the second floor and roof area, leading to a second alarm being called in for additional crews, fire officials said. Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze and bring it under control after deploying multiple hose lines.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to fire officials. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to their family.
