The Eastpointe City Council held a special meeting Monday night to determine next steps in filling the open city manager position after the top candidate withdrew his application.

At its Oct. 14 regular meeting, the council voted to extend a contract offer to Brian Wood, who is currently the assistant city manager in Glenarden, Md. At that same meeting, the council agreed that if Wood did not accept the offer, a contract would be extended to Flint economic program development manager Ryan Madis.

The city council voted to receive and file the letter of withdrawal from Wood and to direct city attorney Richard Albright to extend a contract to Madis. Albright said the same contract would be offered to Madis that was offered to Wood.
