EAST LANSING – Michigan State passed its first unofficial test.

The next one should be a lot tougher.

The No. 22 Spartans will play their second and final exhibition game at No. 4 UConn on Tuesday (7:30 p.m.) as a major preseason tune-up. They’re coming off a 75-66 win against Bowling Green last week and will run a revamped lineup through its first road challenge.

“That’s why I’m glad we’re going to UConn because that will be a hornet’s nest in everything that will happen there,” coach Tom Izzo said after beating the Falcons, “and that will be good for us too.”
