CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland City Council voted unanimously on Monday to reduce the speed limit on a major West Side street.
Once the final sign off is received from the Ohio Department of Transportation, the speed limit on Lake Avenue from the Lakewood border to Detroit Avenue will be reduced from 35 mph to 30 mph.
This last step involving ODOT is considered a formality. ODOT has already approved the change, pending reception of the resolution from City Council. The change could occur before the end of this year.
The Cleveland speed limit will match that of Lake Avenue in Lakewood, which last year made the reduction for its stretch of the road.
The speed limit reduction is part of Cleveland’s efforts to make roadways safer for both motorists and pedestrians, said Cameron Roberts, coord
