APALACHICOLA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -For the last few months, Apalachicola residents have been dealing with dark, foul-smelling water.
“It literally stained the clothes, they would come out black,” said Danielle James, an Apalachicola resident, “I don’t know how many clothes it’s ruined.”
As a temporary fix, the city has been treating the water with hydrogen peroxide.
“The last few months it’s been better, I feel safe to bathe in it now, it smells better, it does smell like loads of chlorine,” said Apalichicola resident, Malia Topham, “but I don’t have much more complaints about it as long as the water’s not black.”
But city officials say a more permanent solution has just arrived.
“The scrubber, the aerator, basically takes contaminants and things that are naturally occurring in the water
