In a proactive move to safeguard consumers amid the impending Cyclone Montha, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has launched extensive raids across various districts in Odisha.

These operations aim to prevent black marketing and maintain an uninterrupted supply chain for essential commodities.

With the cyclone’s potential impact expected from today until October 30, authorities are intensifying inspections to ensure that no traders engage in hoarding or unnecessary stockpiling of vital goods. The focus is on guaranteeing abundant availability of key items such as flattened rice (chuda), jaggery (gud), sugar, pulses (dali), cooking oil, potatoes, and onions. This initiative is designed to eliminate any doubts among consumers about shortages in the market.
