McLEAN COUNTY ( 25News Now ) - An Illinois State University administrator in the College of Education wants his job back after prosecutors dismissed predatory sexual assault charges him, his lawyer said on Monday.
The McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office dismissed all four Class X felony counts alleging Alan Bates, 54, sexually molested a child younger than 13 between October of 2007 and October of 2015.
His attorney, Donna Rotunno, said Bates has been on leave from his position as professor and director of Teaching and Learning at the college since Bloomington Police arrested him in August 2023.
The accusations “uprooted his entire life” and despite being exonerated, it will be difficult for Bates to regain his reputation, Rotunno told 25News.
