In a bid to finalize a long-anticipated free trade agreement (FTA), India and the European Union have made notable progress in tariff negotiations, as confirmed by officials. A key EU delegation is slated to visit India next week to expedite discussions and resolve remaining differences.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, who recently met with EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic in Brussels, reiterated the importance of the talks in fostering a robust bilateral trade relationship. Sefcovic announced that European Commission Director General for Trade Sabine Weyand will visit New Delhi to advance technical tariffs negotiations.
With discussions making headway, the FTA promises significant opportunities, especially in areas like industrial tariffs and service trade.
