After the Boston Red Sox were eliminated in their wild-card series by the New York Yankees, all eyes turned to third baseman Alex Bregman . With a major contract decision on his hands, it’s clear that the biggest question for the Red Sox this offseason is whether or not Bregman will spend more than one season with the team.
Bregman signed a three-year, $120 million contract with Boston in free agency last offseason, but the deal had a player option after the first season that would allow the All-Star slugger to opt out and test free agency again if he wanted to. Sure enough, after the season ended, Bregman exercised his opt-out clause.
