KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The ongoing federal government shutdown will begin impacting Kansas City International Airport (KCI) workers this week.
Tuesday marks the first zero paycheck for air traffic controllers, even as controllers work mandatory overtime 6 days a week and 10 hours a day, the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) said.
During the last shutdown, the association said many controllers needed to work a second job to pay their bills.
FOX4 reached out to KCI, and a spokesperson for the aviation department sent the following statement:
"The Kansas City Aviation Department (KCAD) deeply appreciates the work of all the federal workers who have continued to do their essential work at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) during the shutdown. One small example is that
