THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A New York City school janitor was sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl inside an empty classroom, the Bronx District Attorney announced on Tuesday.

Prosecutors said 45-year-old Cesar Ortega Licona, of Yonkers, forcefully pulled the second grader into the classroom around 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 17, 2024. He then sexually assaulted the child, according to prosecutors.

The girl ran out of the classroom and screamed for help. A teacher called 911, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors said Licona was linked to the assault through DNA evidence.

He’s also facing five years post-release supervision and will have to register as a sex offender, according to prosecutors.
