India's aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), is contemplating new guidelines for the use of power banks on flights. This comes after a power bank incident onboard an IndiGo flight triggered safety concerns.

The power bank caught fire while the aircraft was taxiing at Delhi airport, leading the DGCA to study international aviation practices before implementing any restrictions.

Although a ban is not being considered, the DGCA aims at reinforcing safety after similar incidents involving lithium batteries were reported globally this month.
