CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Pressure continues to build on Congress, federal workers, and those who rely on federal assistance as the second-longest U.S. government shutdown continues.

Nearly 1.5 million civilian federal workers have been furloughed or been forced to work without pay after missing their first full paycheck amid the shutdown.

While some federal workers have been without pay, about 1.4 million Ohioans may soon be without their SNAP benefits.

Funding for SNAP is expected to run out on Nov. 1, which is the one-month marker since the government shut down.

Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) joined the Keep SNAP Funded Act of 2025, which would provide full funding to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program during the shutdown.
