The murder trial for Christopher Baldner , a former state trooper accused of killing an 11-year-old girl during a high-speed chase on the Thruway in 2020, has begun in Ulster County Court.

The case is being prosecuted by New York State Attorney General Letitia James' office.

The trial began with jury selection on Oct. 27.

It has been alleged that at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 22, 2020, Tristan Goods of Brooklyn was driving northbound on the Thruway to visit family for Christmas with his wife and two daughters, ages 11 and 12, in the car.

Baldner, 46, who was in a marked state police patrol car, stopped them around mile marker 92 in Ulster County for allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed.
