The landfall process of the severe cyclonic storm Montha has commenced on Tuesday and is expected to continue over the next few hours. The India Meteorological Department confirmed the development, stating that the storm will soon cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada.

In a post on X, the IMD stated that cyclone Montha is continuously moving north-northwestwards and is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, near Kakinada, within the next 3 to 4 hours. The storm is likely to bring maximum sustained wind speeds of 90-100 kmph, gusting up to 110 kmph. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall has been predicted in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, South Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
