Neutrogena, a popular makeup and skincare brand, has had one of its most famous makeup-removing products recalled by the FDA due to bacterial exposure.
On Oct. 3, the FDA issued a Class II recall for Neutrogena Makeup Remover Ultra-Soft Cleansing Towelettes because it tested positive for Pluralibacter gergoviae, a type of bacteria.
This bacterium can be found in plants, insects and spring water.
A Class II recall means that exposure to this bacteria “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” according to the FDA.
The possibly contaminated wipes are being recalled in Texas, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. They can be identified by a shared lot number: LOT 1835U6325A.
