To the Editor:

So, how has Watertown fared after 17 years of Republican control of the Town Council and the BOE? Accomplishments are many. Personally, my taxes have gone up 40% but that’s only during the last 11 years; my records only go back that far.

How about progress at the BOE. In a recent CT Post article, Republican Town Committee Chairman Dan DeVito stated that while under the Republican control, spending has increased 30%, Watertown student test scores have fallen off from previous results. As I recall, he placed the blame squarely on the chairperson’s shoulders.

So, at the BOE, dollars spent up, results: down.
