Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya met Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday to discuss alternative proposals to the city’s tunnel road project.

The meeting, which focused on decongesting Bengaluru, saw Tejasvi Surya emphasise strengthening public transport as the sustainable solution to the city’s traffic woes.

Surya said he requested that the funds allocated for the tunnel project be diverted to the Metro instead. “Our focus should be on moving people, not vehicles,” he said, adding that improving Bengaluru’s Metro and suburban rail network was key to addressing congestion.
