LAKE MARY — Eleven-year-old Ava Tvrdik took on an ambitious 4-H project as a Lake Mary Trooper: Sewing a quilt.
But she had a good teacher to show her the ropes, her grandmother Debbie Tvrdik. Ava approached her grandmother to learn how to sew. Ava carefully listened to instructions and handled a sewing machine from the very start. The hard work paid off. Ava's baby quilt received a blue ribbon at the Douglas County Fair.
After completing that, Ada wasn't finished yet. She decided to donate the quilt to the Lake Mary Troopers 4-H Club. It presents a baby quilt to the first baby born at Alomere Health hospital during National 4-H Week, which is is the first week of October. This year, the 46th recipient was baby Brooks, whose parents are Sophia and Riley Grabow from Carlos.
