Millions of Americans who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will be without benefits starting Nov. 1 as the federal government shutdown continues, U.S. Department of Agriculture officials announced.

The Courier Journal reported that around 600,000 Kentuckians rely on SNAP , a federal program that provides monthly benefits to low-income families to afford healthy food. Due to the ongoing government shutdown, USDA officials said the program will run out of money by the end of October and no benefits will be issued in November.
