A summertime blip in Akron's water testing has been addressed, city officials say, and the system has achieved high marks in recent follow-up checks.
In July, Akron informed residents that their water supply exceeded the maximum level of a common byproduct — haloacetic acid (HAA5) — created through the water treatment and disinfection process at two of 12 sampling locations. Now it says recent tests show that the city's HAA5 levels are again in a normal range, and the best results the city has seen for HAA5 levels in at least five years.
