ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - MARTA has resumed rail service at its Garnett station after crews completed the first phase of a renovation project.
Trains on the Red and Gold lines skipped the station for six weeks, from Sept. 13 to Oct. 26, as crews worked to replace the station’s 44-year-old platform pavers.
Bus service was not affected.
During the closure, crews also worked ahead of schedule to replace the pavers on the station’s lower concourse, MARTA said in a press release Tuesday.
The transit agency said “after more than 40 years of wear and tear,” the pavers were in “immediate need of repair to ensure a safe, accessible, and positive experience for customers.”
The new pavers are “easier to clean, replace, and maintain long-term.”
