LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital told KPLC Tuesday afternoon that they would be keeping their Genesis Therapeutic Riding Center open.

A petition circulating online and pressure on social media asked the hospital to reconsider closing the therapy center.

WCCH sent us the following statement:

West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital (WCCH) has made the decision to pause the planned closure of the Genesis Therapeutic Riding Center. This decision will allow time to explore potential funding opportunities and community partnerships that could support the continued operation of this meaningful community program.

The center’s website says the center offers occupational and hippotherapy to help people with impaired motor skills or developmental issues.
