Actor Emraan Hashmi says his upcoming film ‘HAQ’ draws inspiration from the historic 1985 Shah Bano case, describing it as a story that reflects on a balance between personal faith and constitutional law. He also noted that the movie is not meant to “malign” any community or religion and talks about women’s rights and dignity.
Speaking to ANI, he said, “Maybe the younger generation doesn’t know much about this case. The film is inspired by the 1985 Shah Bano case, in which Ahmed Khan divorced Shah Bano, who then fought for her dignity in the Sessions Court, the High Court, and the Supreme Court after her husband stopped her maintenance.”
