ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Automotive giant General Motors plans to close a metro Atlanta technology center and cut hundreds of jobs.
GM is ending operations at the Georgia Innovation Center in Roswell.
The center opened in 2013 as a hub for software development, IT operations and vehicle technology. It was once touted as a huge economic investment in the city.
GM said the closure is part of its corporate restructuring.
“We are redefining our site strategy, unifying our technical teams in targeted hubs for better collaboration,” a spokesperson for the company said in a statement. “With that, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our Georgia Innovation Center. We recognize the efforts of the individuals whose roles are impacted, and we thank them for their contributions.”
