SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A man was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured while walking through a busy intersection near the San Diego International Airport during rush hour Monday evening, San Diego Police reports.

The police department reports an unknown man was struck at 5:04 p.m. Monday while walking in the middle of the intersection of Pacific Highway and Sassafras Street in the 3400 block of Pacific Highway in the Midtown neighborhood of San Diego close to the San Diego Airport Rental Car Center.

A 75-year-old woman driving a Chrysler Pacifica was heading south on Pacific Highway when she hit the pedestrian, according to police. The woman reportedly told authorities she did not see the man before the collision.
