San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Nunez, 28, was shot and killed during a domestic violence call in Rancho Cucamonga Monday afternoon.

The suspect fled on a motorcycle on the 210 Freeway, reaching speeds of nearly 150 miles an hour, in a chase broadcast live on television.

A narcotics deputy, who had been off-duty, deliberately struck the motorcycle with his car. Policing experts say the action was justified.

As the motorcyclist reached speeds of nearly 150 miles an hour, tailed by a phalanx of police cars on the 210 Freeway, he was putting distance between himself and the home where, according to authorities, he had just shot and killed a sheriff’s deputy.
