VERONA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- At their school board meeting on Monday, the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill School District unanimously approved a plan to reconfigure which students go to which schools.
At the meeting on Monday, October 28, the school board approved a plan which -- despite fears to the contrary early in the process -- will not close any of the four schools used by the district. Instead, the following plan has been approved by the board: • Pre-K, kindergarten, and first grades will be moved to the J.D. Elementary School in Verona, • Second through fourth grades will be moved to the E.A. McAllister Elementary School in Sherrill, • W.A. Wettel Elementary School in Vernon will house the fifth and sixth-grade classes, and • Grades seven and eight will be combined with V-V-S Hig
