Syracuse, N.Y. - A dog that was found stabbed in the neck last week has been released from a veterinary hospital and is staying with a foster family as he recovers.

Chance, a brindle pit bull, had multiple surgeries and blood transfusions after police found him in the 500 block of East Willow Street on the morning of Oct. 21.

“He’s feeling good, eating good, and getting some pep back in his step!” Humane CNY, the shelter where Chance has been staying, said in a Facebook post on Tuesday. “He’s finally been discharged from the hospital into the loving care of a foster home!”

Chance has been playing with toys, walking and eating normally, said Maureen Davison, executive director of Humane CNY.
