WAUKEE, Iowa —
About $2.3 million will be lost this school year for the Waukee district because of a property tax error.
Superintendent Brad Buck shared this information during Monday's school board meeting. He stresses that no jobs are being cut at this time.
Buck says the money is being lost because of how the Apple data center property has been valued.
The county valued it at $192 million on Jan. 1 of last year. That's the number the district used in this year's budget.
However, district leaders say they were not aware of an agreement with the city of Waukee for a High Impact Jobs Credit. That lowered the valuation to $60 million.
The general fund alone is losing more than $1.4 million.
