MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Opening statements began Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of killing his newborn baby in 2021.

Logen Kruckenberg Anderson , now 21, was 16 at the time of the deadly shooting.

Green County District Attorney Laura Kohl alleged Kruckenberg-Anderson and his girlfriend, who was 14 at the time, took great lengths to hide her pregnancy. Kohl said the mother of the infant had wanted to keep the baby, but Kruckenberg-Anderson said their lives would be ruined if they had the child and kept it.

The teen mother gave birth in a bath tub, and Kruckenberg-Anderson allegedly convinced her to give the baby to a friend’s mom to take care of the newborn. The baby was a girl, who had been named Harper, according to the criminal complaint.
