HOUSTON — We are a few months from Houston being on the world’s biggest stage! Space City is set to host seven World Cup games with 500,000 people expected to visit the area.

“The countdown is on,” Houston 2026 World Cup Host Committee President Chris Canetti said.

The countdown will continue all the way until we reach June 11, which is the start of the 2026 World Cup. Houston is among the 16 host cities for the tournament.

“This is on a scale unlike anything we've ever seen. We're going to have visitors coming in from across the globe,” Canetti said.

Canetti said they’re expecting a staggering 500,000 people to visit our city during the 39-day tournament. In short, a vast majority will need somewhere to stay. Canetti said FIFA has already contracted with 40 hotels for over 5,000 roo
