There are new developments in the deadly Poinciana crash that killed three children and their grandmother .
Opening statements began Tuesday in the trial of Richard Ferguson, 68, the father of the teen driver accused in the 2023 crash.
It was an emotional first day in court. Family members of the victims sat in the courtroom as jurors watched surveillance video of the crash.
They also heard from multiple witnesses, including the three teens who were in the car with Ferguson’s son, and Angel Hernandez, the grandfather who was the only survivor.
Prosecutors argued Ferguson was responsible for allowing his teenage son to drive that night.
