ROCHESTER, Minn. - Mayo Clinic has reached a new milestone in its construction in downtown Rochester. A steel beam weighing 512 pounds was recently placed at the top of the Andersen Building.

This beam is one 1,708 beams, 241 columns, and 94 braces being assembled as part of Mayo's utility plant expansion. Members of the construction team and future building staff signed the beam before it was lifted into place.

The expanded plant, which is expected to be completed in 2027, will provide the energy that is needed to power the campus. This expansion aims to meet Mayo Clinic's long-term infrastructure needs by supplying chilled water, steam, and essential power to all buildings across the downtown campus.
