COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football will hold a moment of silence for Nick Mangold and Bob Maggs prior to Saturday’s game against Penn State .
Mangold, a national champion and All-American center who played for the Buckeyes from 2002-05, died Saturday night from kidney disease complications. He was 41.
Maggs, who was Ohio State’s starting center in 1985 and 1986, died unexpectedly Thursday. He was 61.
“We lost a couple members of the Ohio State football family this week,” coach Ryan Day said Tuesday. “Nick Mangold and Bob Maggs both had major impacts on this program. We’re praying for their families to have peace during this time. Very, very sad.”
